Benavides Design House was born from the shared passion for design and architecture between Kristen and Oscar Benavides. With backgrounds that span international locales and diverse aesthetics — from the refined sophistication of Palm Beach and New York to the vibrant, rich styles of Spain and Colombia — our firm offers a unique perspective and comprehensive approach to every project. Kristen Benavides
CO-OWNER & DESIGN PRINCIPAL
Kristen is an NCIDQ-certified Interior Designer, licensed in New Jersey, with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from Florida State University. Since 2005, she has dedicated her career to high-end residential design, beginning with a decade in Palm Beach, Florida. During that time, Kristen honed her craft, immersing herself in all facets of the industry and progressing from design assistant to lead designer, managing her own projects with distinction. It was in Palm Beach where she met Oscar Benavides, a fellow designer and her future partner in both life and work.
In 2014, Kristen and Oscar relocated to Medford, New Jersey, to be closer to family and she continued her career as a lead designer at a local firm for over four years. In 2018, combining their extensive experience and shared passion for design, Kristen and Oscar founded Benavides Design House.
Kristen approaches each project with dedication and an eclectic design philosophy, crafting spaces that stand the test of time and endure fleeting trends. Kristen believes that your interior spaces set the stage for life’s most cherished moments. With a focus on creating designs as unique as her clients, Kristen’s ultimate goal is to ensure that every client loves coming home.
Oscar Benavides
CO-OWNER & DESIGN PRINCIPAL
Oscar’s passion for design is evident in his dedication to crafting innovative, original design solutions — a hallmark of his ideal day. His journey began at the National University of Colombia in Bogota, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Architecture. After graduation, Oscar spent five years gaining practical experience with architecture firms in Colombia before pursuing further studies at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Spain. In Barcelona, he expanded his expertise by working with a residential firm specializing in contemporary architecture.
Oscar’s career then led him to Palm Beach, Florida, where he shifted his focus to classical architecture and high-end residential design. In 2008, he established his own firm, consulting for esteemed designers, custom home builders, and architects from Palm Beach to New York. This extensive experience across diverse design styles and disciplines now enriches his work at Benavides Design House, where he partners with his wife, Kristen.
Oscar is known for being a hands-on designer who is intimately familiar with all phases of the construction process, enabling him to guide clients through visualizing their space and elevating each project to new heights. He believes that exceptional design should surprise and delight, while enduring the test of time through superior beauty, craftsmanship, and structural integrity.
